A People Divided

The Korean Demilitarized Zone at the 38th parallel is a 160 mile long, two and a half mile wide strip roughly dividing the Korean peninsula in half. Bordered by barbed wire, artillery, and standing armies on both sides, the DMZ has halted all freedom of movement for Koreans by the threat of lethal force. First enduring the horror of total war and displacement from their homes, Korean families have been separated from loved ones since 1953.
